ABOUT US
We are the Humphreys Clan - Ron, Alison, Teagen, Willow, Weston and Stone.
We are a part-time travel, full-time adventure family. We left our traditional 9-5 jobs and opted to run our own businesses so we could homeschool our four children and spend more time together as a family traveling, going on adventures, spending time in nature and chasing sunsets.
Alison is a licensed psychotherapist and college professor working remotely. Her first book - Virginia and Maryland 50 Hikes with Kids - was released in July 2024. Ron is a home inspector, realtor and licensed home improvement contractor who renovates or "flips" a few houses year.
We are a homeschooling, child-led learning family . We especially love hands-on learning and learning through experiences. We love spending time outdoors, especially hiking, kayaking, fishing and camping. And there has never been a sunset or sunrise we regretted watching.
We currently live in Maryland but feel most alive on the road. We currently travel all around the US in our semi-converted transit bus our kids have affectionately named "Kiki." Our kids also had their first international trips to Costa Rica and Nicaragua in 2024.

We believe children remember the adventures they went on, not the stuff you bought them so we prioritize memories over things. We love small, local microadventures as much as we love big, faraway adventures and truly believe that adventure is a mindset!

We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us. We are dedicated to creating a life we don’t need a vacation from and never getting so busy making a living that we forget to make a life. Our goal is to show our children the whole US and then begin international travel.

We truly believe that the world is our classroom and that children (and adults!) learn from everywhere and from everything they do, not just in designated learning spaces during specific times. We believe that children should have a say in what they learn and should be given the opportunity and space to follow their passions.

We believe that not all who wander are lost. We find spending time in the great outdoors to be both calming and rejuvenating. From forest wandering to camping to fishing to chasing sunsets, you can catch us outside most days exploring all Mother Nature has to offer.

Life is short so we decided to venture outside the box and leave our 9 to 5 jobs and not enroll our children in school so that we could spend as much time together as a family doing what we love most – traveling, adventuring, spending time in nature and learning through living.
